Traditional Thai vs. Oil Massage: Which Should You Book?
If you’re new to Thai massage, the menu can be confusing. The two most-booked options, Traditional Thai and Aromatherapy Oil, are genuinely different experiences. Here’s how to choose.
Traditional Thai (dry) massage
No oil, worn in loose, comfortable clothing. The therapist uses palms, thumbs, forearms and gentle assisted stretches to work along the body’s energy lines (sen). Think of it as somewhere between a massage and assisted yoga.
Best for: stiffness, limited mobility, desk-bound backs, and anyone who likes firm, active work.
Aromatherapy oil massage
Warm, scented oils and long, flowing strokes. Calmer, more meditative, and deeply relaxing.
Best for: stress, poor sleep, and pure unwinding.
Still unsure?
A simple rule: if your body feels tight and stuck, book Traditional Thai. If your mind feels wired and tired, book the oil massage. Either way, an Aree Thai therapist brings the full setup to your home, just tell us how you’re feeling and we’ll guide you.
